Welcome to
Waynesboro FBLA
There are four divisions in this organization:
- Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) for high school students;
- FBLA-Middle Level for junior high, middle, and intermediate school students;
- Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) for postsecondary students;
- Professional Division for businesspeople, FBLA-PBL alumni, educators, and parents;
For high school students, FBLA teaches them to gain leadership skills that will help them succeed in their careers and as citizens. In Waynesboro, FBLA is a class during the advisory period. Students earn points for completing all activities that are drawn from the State and National FBLA web sites. Students complete activities toward earning one of the four award levels in FBLA (Future level award, Business level award, Leader level award, America level award). Students also participate in activities such as leadership workshops, fundraisers, and competitive events.
As in all organizations there are goals that FBLA wishes to achieve with each member. FBLA hopes to teach students to develop competent business leadership skills as well as strengthen the confidence of students in them and in their work. The organization also creates a larger interest and understanding of American business enterprise. With the help of FBLA, students can establish occupational goals and prepare the important transition from school to work.
Nine students in PA FBLA are elected annually at the state conference. Students take part in competing in competitive events that exemplifies the range of activities and focus of FBLA. The events are based on projects developed from the goals of FBLA and business education curriculum. A list of these competitive events can be found on the PA FBLA website: http://www.pafbla.org.
FBLA is formed by local, state, and national levels. Advisers are in charge of the local chapters. State chapters are headed by executive directors, state advisers, and Department of Education staff members who report to the national organization. On the national level, there are Board of Directors who set policy and appoints a President. The national office for FBLA is located in Reston, Virginia. There are almost 300,000 active members in this organization from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, U.S. Territories, and Department of Defense Dependent Schools worldwide.
